My capstone project is titled “The Scent of Memories.” It is a comprehensive packaging and branding project for a fictional aromatherapy candle line that focuses on the intimate relationship between scent and memory. The goal of this project was to break away from conventional packaging by creating an immersive sensory experience that sparks nostalgia. Inspired by my own childhood, each scent reflects a memory of my own. I painted the backgrounds on canvas by hand, then scanned them to bring a tactile, organic feel to the designs. I created the candles myself to ensure that each scent matched the memory that I was attempting to emulate. The rest of the graphics were created digitally, combining the warmth of handmade art with the precision of graphic design. Using vivid colors, playful typography, and descriptive text, I aimed to capture the feeling of nostalgia and invite viewers to connect with these memories, and potentially memories of their own.
